Postdocs
We are recruiting a postdoc in microbial biogeochemical modeling to join us in fall 2026! The candidate will work jointly with the Bogar Group at UC Davis and the Brodie Group at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory to build biogeochemical models focusing on how stand-replacing wildfire impacts deep-soil plant-microbe interactions and subsequent ecosystem-scale carbon cycling. Please download the full job description here and email Laura ([email protected]) if you have additional questions. The priority application deadline is 17 July 2026.
If you are not a modeler, but are still interested in working with us, please consider applying for a fellowship! Laura is happy to provide letters of support and feedback on application drafts for prospective postdocs.
Good fellowship opportunities for postdoctoral researchers (some pending federal funding availability):
- NOAA climate and global change postdoctoral fellowships
- L’Oreal USA For Women In Science
- UC President’s Postdoctoral Fellowships (requires a tenured mentor, but Laura is happy to collaborate with or co-mentor PPFP postdocs)
- Life Sciences Research Foundation Postdoctoral program
- Dieter Lukas' list of fellowships in biology
- NSF PRFB
Graduate students
We are not currently recruiting graduate students, and likely will not have any openings until approximately the 2029-2030 academic year. When we do have space for more graduate students, Laura is affiliated with the Plant Biology, Soils and Biogeochemistry, and Population Biology Graduate Groups.

Undergraduate researchers
If you are a UC Davis undergraduate, please fill out our undergraduate research interest form. We will reach out to you if and when we are able to open up new research opportunities. As of spring 2026, however, the research group is very full, so we are unlikely to take on new researchers in the near future.
