Bio
Emma is a senior undergraduate researcher majoring in Plant Biology. Curiosities in functional mycology began from a passion for forestry and the ‘tree-side of things.’ Her research interests stem from a central aim to understand the evolutionary genetics that optimize survivability across variable environmental conditions within the same and closely related species of trees and fungi, and how these influence symbiotic interactions. Her current research project is comparing the physiology and genetic expression of Pseudotsuga menziesii var. Menziesii and var. Glauca under drought stress. Her interest in the natural world follows with enjoyment of natural dyeing and fiber arts, and when not in the lab she is likely on a bike ride.
